Case Study: Industrial Development Corporation achieves 24.7 Availability and R17.1M in savings with Veeam

A Veeam Case Study

Veeam Becomes a Guiding Force in the IT Infrastructure, Enabling Financial Services Company to Tear Down Technology Silos and Ensure 24.7 Availability

The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is a South African government–owned development financier that drives industrialisation and funds high-impact projects. To stay agile and ensure decision-making data is always available, the IDC had implemented multiple replication, backup and monitoring tools that created operational silos, slow backups and limited visibility—resulting in an unacceptable 48-hour recovery time and point objective (RTPO) for an always-on organisation.

By making Veeam the single solution for backup, replication and monitoring, the IDC tore down silos and achieved 24.7 availability: RTPO fell to 15 minutes, Instant VM Recovery and SureBackup enabled rapid, verified restorations (including SAP), and Virtual Lab simplified patch testing. The consolidation saved about R17.1 million (~$1.3M) over five years (including repurposing 400TB of storage), cut thousands of troubleshooting hours, improved resource optimisation and enabled fast, proactive issue resolution for the business.
