A Veeam Case Study
Antioch Unified School District, which supports more than 18,000 students and nearly 2,000 staff across 25 schools, consolidated hundreds of physical servers into a virtual environment of 85 VMs on nine ESXi hosts. The district’s existing backup tool—designed for physical servers—was inefficient, slow, and costly, with confusing licensing and extra agent fees, leaving IT unable to reliably protect or quickly restore its virtual workloads.
After deploying Veeam Backup & Replication with partner AMS.NET, Antioch gained a virtualization-specific, easy-to-deploy solution with agentless licensing, simplified management and morning dashboard visibility. Backups now replicate to an appliance and the DR site, Instant VM Recovery enables full-VM restores in minutes, file-level recovery is fast and granular, and annual maintenance and support costs fell by about 40%, while support and testing capabilities (virtual labs) improved operational confidence.
