Veeam Backup & Replication is Centerpiece of Disaster Recovery Process at Major Italian Financial Institution

Colt Technology Services was asked by a major Italian financial institution to design a disaster recovery site that would replicate physical servers, virtual machines and large NAS storage to an offsite location at least 100 km away. The customer also required a virtual-server backup solution that could be activated at the DR site, minimal impact on production (limited replication windows and traffic, low operational overhead) and adherence to strict recovery time objectives.

Colt engaged Clever Consulting, which recommended Veeam Backup & Replication as the centerpiece of the DR solution. Veeam now performs nightly VMware replication to the DR site with SNMP/reporting alerts, supports simple failover testing via pre-failover snapshots (pause, test, rollback) and runs an agentless backup job at the DR site to capture any data changes during activation. The result: flawless nightly replication, fast and concise re-replication after tests, and guaranteed protection of data during DR events with minimal impact on production staff.
