A Veeam Case Study
Altshuler Shaham is one of Israel’s leading investment houses, managing roughly NIS 63 billion (USD 17 billion) for thousands of clients with about 500 employees. As the firm grew to 17 hosts and 89 virtual servers across two data centers, legacy backup systems became slow, resource‑intensive and prone to data loss—creating a critical need for a reliable, fast availability solution that could meet narrow backup windows and protect against cyber and other disruptions with short RTOs/RPOs.
Altshuler Shaham implemented Veeam Availability Suite (agentless, virtualization‑native) in a three‑month deployment and upgraded to v9 in 2016. The result: 100% successful restores, recovery of a single server reduced from two days to five minutes, backup times improved by 90%, backup capacity increased tenfold (4.5 TB → 50 TB), RTOs/RPOs under 15 minutes, 240–360 staff hours saved per year, and roughly 45% lower costs—delivering stronger availability, operational efficiency and protection of the firm’s reputation.
