Veeam Availability Breathes New Life into Medical Clinic’s Business Continuity Plan and Saves Nearly $200,000

Portland Diabetes & Endocrinology Center (PDEC) is one of the oldest and largest private endocrinology clinics in the U.S., serving thousands of patients from two locations with 48 staff. Because patient care can be life‑threatening, PDEC needed uninterrupted access to electronic health records, but an offsite backup corruption exposed gaps in its 3‑2‑1 strategy and prompted the clinic to seek a more secure, geographically distant disaster‑recovery option without the expense of building a second site.

PDEC implemented Veeam Backup & Replication with Veeam Cloud Connect through Convergence Northwest and iland, backing up 6 TB across six VMs to iland’s secure cloud with end‑to‑end encryption. The solution restored 24x7 availability of patient records, simplified HIPAA compliance and fast recovery, and saved the clinic nearly $200,000 while avoiding potentially catastrophic data loss.
