Val Verde USD Protects Against Cyberattacks with Veeam and HPE Nimble

Val Verde Unified School District, serving 20,000 students in 23 schools, needed to protect critical student and business records from increasingly common cyberattacks. Its legacy backup was slow and hard to manage—recoveries could take about three hours per file and the team spent roughly eight hours a week on maintenance—so the district sought a solution that would integrate with its HPE Nimble primary storage, speed recovery, support tape and enable cloud backup.

Working with partner Logicalis, Val Verde deployed Veeam Availability Suite integrated with HPE Nimble. The district now backs up 30 TB across 100 VMs from Nimble snapshots, recovers data 98% faster (about three minutes versus three hours), uses on-demand sandboxing for safe testing, maintains tape for 3-2-1 security, and is cloud-ready—saving staff time and giving the district confidence in its disaster recovery.
