University Hospital of Würzburg (UKW) is a 1,400‑bed maximum‑care teaching hospital serving over a million people, with 6,300 staff and intensive research and clinical services. As clinical workflows became heavily digitalized and the hospital was designated a critical infrastructure operator (KRITIS), UKW faced stricter legal requirements and an urgent need to guarantee continuous availability of applications and data to avoid disruptions to patient care.

UKW deployed Veeam Availability Suite and Veeam Agents to protect about 650 virtual servers, 700+ virtual desktops and roughly 900 TB of data, integrating backups with VMware, tape archiving and recoverability testing (SureBackup).
