UI Health ensures data resilience with Veeam Cyber Secure

The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) — a 451‑bed hospital with more than 30 outpatient clinics, 11 health centers, 38,000 employees and 135,000 patients served annually — experienced a major backup failure when logical unit numbers were accidentally deleted from several VMs, forcing 72 hours of manual rebuilds. After evaluating Commvault, Rubrik and Veeam, UI Health chose Veeam when a contact stepped in during the crisis to rapidly stand up a recoverable backup infrastructure and restore data.

UI Health deployed Veeam Data Platform Premium, Veeam Cyber Secure and Veeam Backup for AWS to protect its hybrid environment, enabling immutable backups on‑premises and in AWS, regular security assessments and malware detection, plus automated testing and orchestrated recovery.
