A Veeam Case Study
Euler Hermes, a subsidiary of Allianz and a global leader in credit insurance with more than 6,000 employees and three data centers (France, U.S. and Singapore), faced growing backup challenges after consolidating its infrastructure to about 500 VMs and 20 TB of data. Legacy script‑based backups could no longer complete within available windows, and the move to VMware vSphere with vStorage APIs required a VMware‑optimized solution that would also integrate with the company’s IBM TSM-based physical backup and BCP processes.
Euler Hermes selected Veeam Backup & Replication for its VMware awareness and seamless IBM TSM integration. Deployed in France and Singapore (with U.S. rollout underway), Veeam delivered much faster full and incremental backups, synthetic fulls, VM‑level disk backups, centralized TSM archiving to VTL/tape, email alerting and instant restores that reduced recoveries from a day to hours. Administrative simplicity, built‑in replication, and strong space savings (e.g., 73% deduplication on an 11‑VM job, 98% on rollback, ~85% compression) were key measured benefits.
