Telefónica Uruguay Chooses Veeam to Enhance Customer Experiences and Mitigate Cyberattacks

Telefónica Uruguay, which serves over 1.4 million mobile users, needed to strengthen data protection and maintain high network availability to meet customer expectations and defend against a growing threat of cyberattacks. The IT team faced long backup and restore times that risked service interruptions and sought a solution to speed recovery and reduce downtime.

Working with partner UruData, Telefónica Uruguay deployed Veeam Availability Suite to back up 600 virtual and 200 physical machines. The solution cut backup times, increased backup success rates, enabled granular restores (for example, a single email in minutes), reduced the recovery point objective to under 24 hours, and significantly improved service continuity and resilience against ransomware.
