Swietelsky AG, a leading construction company based in Linz with 12,000 employees across 19 countries, scaled Microsoft Teams to about 5,500 users during the COVID-19-driven digitization of its workflows. Because Teams data is distributed across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, the company needed a reliable way to retain ownership, back up all team content centrally, enable fast recovery and meet compliance requirements such as ISO/IEC 27001.

Swietelsky deployed Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 (including Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams) to back up Teams data to its own data center, index metadata for easy search and restore content down to channels, files and messages. The solution enabled rapid, granular restores (more than 40 GB recovered in under 30 minutes), streamlined retention and reporting, supported regular restore testing and helped the company maintain regulatory compliance while protecting 5,500 Teams users.
