SunExpress, a joint venture of Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines carrying about 10 million passengers to 90+ destinations, needed enterprise-grade data protection to keep critical systems—reservation and in‑flight operations, email and SAP HANA—available at all times. Legacy tape backups were slow, manual and risky, and the airline was concerned about retaining historical email data and meeting GDPR requirements during a move to Exchange Online.

SunExpress deployed Veeam Availability Suite and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 to protect 300 TB across 600 VMs, ensure transaction‑consistent SAP HANA backups, enable fast restores (including individual emails and OneDrive/SharePoint items) and support eDiscovery for compliance. The solution automated monitoring and reporting—saving the equivalent of one full‑time employee—provided off‑site disaster recovery, and restored confidence that systems and customer data are always accessible.
