Schleswig-Holstein Netz AG operates electricity, gas and communications networks across around 1,000 municipalities in northern Germany and supports other regional grid operators, making uninterrupted service and fast recovery critical. As its responsibilities grew—connecting tens of thousands of renewable plants and providing core services for multiple operators—the Process IT (PIT) team needed a future‑proof, highly available data management platform that could scale and meet strict recovery targets.

The company deployed Cisco HyperFlex hyperconverged infrastructure together with Veeam Availability Suite, using stretched clusters, synchronous mirroring and Veeam’s snapshot, replication and Instant VM Recovery capabilities.
