Case Study: Ryanair achieves ransomware resilience and regulatory-compliant data protection with Veeam Data Platform

A Veeam Case Study

Preview of the Ryanair Case Study

Ryanair soars to new heights with ransomware protection from Veeam keeping data safe and secure

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low‑fare airline, needed to modernize its data protection after its legacy backup solution could not support virtualization or evolving cyberthreats. With strict safety and regulatory requirements (NIST, PCI DSS, SOX, GDPR) and millions of passengers relying on continuous operations, the airline required immutable, flexible backups and clear recoverability to protect operational data from ransomware and other disruptions.

Ryanair implemented Veeam Data Platform Premium to back up and replicate ~150 TB across 550 VMs and 10 physical servers to on‑premises and AWS targets, using immutable backups, recovery orchestration, monitoring and reporting. The solution enforces the 3‑2‑1‑1‑0 ransomware rule, speeds reliable recovery of VMs, databases and files, and strengthened the airline’s cybersecurity, business‑continuity and regulatory compliance posture.
