Quinnipiac University protects IT systems supporting teaching, learning and world-renowned public opinion polling with Veeam

Quinnipiac University, a private Connecticut institution of about 10,000 students best known for its nationally cited public‑opinion polling, faced a critical data‑protection challenge: legacy, decentralized backup tools left IT without centralized monitoring, vague error logs and slow, time‑consuming recoveries. Protecting the polling system—and the university’s teaching, ERP and student services systems—was essential to avoid data loss that could severely disrupt operations.

Quinnipiac implemented Veeam (Availability Suite and Agents) to centralize backup and recovery across ~80 TB spanning 15 physical servers, 253 VMs and NAS, with OffsiteDataSync providing BaaS/DRaaS. The solution delivered a single pane of glass for monitoring, NAS changed‑file tracking and Instant VM Recovery, cutting RPOs and RTOs from one day to 15 minutes and helping the university meet FERPA and HIPAA compliance requirements.
