Pluspetrol, a leading oil and gas producer operating across nine countries in South America and beyond, needed reliable, fast access to time-sensitive data that drives exploration and production. The company relied heavily on tape backups and regionally variable processes, which lengthened backup and recovery times, increased operational complexity, and risked costly downtime for critical infrastructure.

Pluspetrol standardized backup and recovery using Veeam Backup & Replication with support from partner Wetcom, protecting roughly 500 virtual and 50 physical servers (≈320 TB) and adopting a 3-2-1 backup strategy. The change cut recovery times from three days to under one hour (≈98% faster), reduced backup maintenance from the equivalent of two FTEs to about 0.5 FTE, and improved performance, scalability and resilience across all regions while enabling future cloud-based offsite options.
