Olímpica slashes backup times by 77% with Veeam

Olímpica, Colombia’s largest retail chain with more than 400 sites and 20,000 employees, was adding about 30 new stores a year, which rapidly increased transactional data and strained its backup processes. Backups often exceeded 30 hours and restores were slow, putting critical back‑office systems and the company’s expansion plans at risk.

Working with partner Redsis, Olímpica implemented Veeam Data Platform (Premium) to build a disaster‑recovery environment and new backup/replication policies, storing copies to disk and tape and running twice‑daily backups. The change cut backup times by 77%, raised application SLAs from 94% to 99%, accelerated disaster recovery, introduced immutable backups, and enabled a low‑risk path to cloud—boosting operational efficiency and employee productivity.
