Naturgy Argentina, a major energy distributor serving more than 1.6 million customers in the Buenos Aires metro area, rapidly moved to end‑to‑end digital customer workflows during the COVID‑19 pandemic. Its on‑premises estate (188 Hyper‑V VMs, 61 HPE servers, ~65 TB) exposed limitations in the legacy IBM Spectrum Protect solution—backup management was complex, restores were slow, and the company faced increased risk from ransomware and service disruption.
Working with partner Commit IT, Naturgy deployed Veeam Availability Suite to automate backups, store copies at a disaster‑recovery site and manage VMs and physical servers from a single console; the solution was installed in days and proved easy enough for junior staff to use. The change cut backup administration time, sped up recovery, strengthened off‑site protection against cyberattacks, and reduced training overhead for new employees.
