A Veeam Case Study
Morehouse School of Medicine, a leading historically Black medical school focused on health equity, faced growing ransomware risk as attacks on higher education surged. With legacy backup tools that were unreliable, costly and hard to manage, the IT team needed a proactive, modern data-protection strategy to ensure continuity for students, faculty and clinical services.
MSM implemented Veeam Availability Suite to modernize backups, creating air-gapped tape copies and replicating nearly 1 PB across 400+ VMs on-premises and to a private cloud while protecting Azure AD workloads. Veeam’s recoverability checks and fast restore tools strengthened MSM’s 3-2-1-1-0 disaster-recovery posture, helped avoid ransom payments, and delivered $75,000 in annual cost savings plus 500 hours of IT time each year.
