Mondragon Unibertsitatea’s Higher Polytechnic Engineering School struggled with an aging backup environment (NetApp for VMware plus Symantec for Oracle) that relied on tape and produced long recovery windows and inefficient restores. As data volumes grew, the IT team could not deliver the reliable, fast access and responsiveness users needed, creating a critical risk to operations and new virtual‑learning initiatives.

Partnering with Econocom to deploy Veeam Backup & Replication, the school reused existing infrastructure to move to disk‑based backups and a single management console, gaining granular restores and much shorter recovery times (from a day to about an hour). The result: simplified management, higher IT productivity, scalable support for virtual desktops and remote learning, and 99% reliability in data security and availability.
