A Veeam Case Study
Maritz, a century‑old, family‑owned business performance firm in the hospitality space that serves more than half of the Fortune 100 and many Fortune 500 clients, needed to protect the digital services and analytics that drive clients’ sales and engagement. Legacy backup was “stunning” VMware VMs during backups and producing slow, hours‑long recoveries, putting mission‑critical solutions — including a SQL‑based analytics system for General Motors and a Southwest Airlines loyalty website — at risk.
Maritz replaced legacy backup with Veeam Availability Suite, integrating Veeam with INFINIDAT storage snapshots to back up several petabytes across 1,000+ vSphere VMs without impact. The change eliminated stun during backups, cut recovery times from hours to minutes with Instant VM Recovery and Veeam Explorer for SQL, and added built‑in AES‑256 encryption and reporting to support PCI DSS and state data‑privacy compliance, preserving availability and client trust.
