A Veeam Case Study
MacLean‑Fogg Company, a global manufacturer of automotive and utility components, needed highly responsive IT to support nonstop production and on‑time delivery. The company faced inconsistent backups (they say backups failed three out of five times), long, complex recoveries for critical systems like Exchange and ERP, heavy agent overhead in VMs, and slow vendor support that put 24x7 availability at risk.
MacLean‑Fogg standardized on Veeam Backup & Replication and later Veeam Availability Suite, combined with a FlexPod platform (Cisco UCS and NetApp), protecting 500 VMs (150 TB) across 20 data centers with DR replication. The agentless, snapshot-based solution reduced backup windows, increased restore points, enabled instant recoveries and Exchange restores, added monitoring/reporting/capacity planning, saved about $5,000 in agent licensing and roughly 560 hours annually in troubleshooting and DR testing, and delivered reliable 24x7 availability.
