Sunrise Communications AG, Switzerland’s largest private telecommunications provider, needed a scalable way to protect and monitor its rapidly growing VMware environment. The IT team was struggling with lengthy backups (full backups took ~36 hours and incremental backups up to 40 minutes per VM) and lacked comprehensive, agentless VMware monitoring within their existing Microsoft System Center console.

Sunrise deployed Veeam Backup & Replication and the Veeam nworks Management Pack for VMware to address both backup and monitoring needs. Backups are now up to 8× faster (full backups reduced to ~8 hours; incremental backups to under 5 minutes per VM), every VM is backed up daily, and Instant VM Recovery and Instant File-Level Recovery cut restore times from ~90 minutes to ~15 minutes (about 6× faster), while nworks provides seamless, agentless VMware monitoring inside System Center.
