Largest Seaplane Operator in the World Flies High with Veeam

Trans Maldivian Airways, the world’s largest seaplane operator carrying about 960,000 passengers a year across the Maldives, relied on a fully virtualized ERP-reservation system that needed 24x7 availability. Their legacy backup tool only ran full backups infrequently, produced few restore points, lacked granular recovery and replication, and forced long recovery times and manual daily oversight — putting bookings and operations at risk.

TMA replaced that tool with Veeam Backup & Replication to protect ~57 VMs (≈5.3TB) with forever-incremental backups, WAN acceleration and offsite replication. Veeam’s Instant VM Recovery and Explorers enabled 5-minute RTOs and sub-30-minute RPOs, eliminated daily three-hour backup management (now ~5 minutes of oversight), and reduced storage needs through compression/deduplication while providing a Virtual Lab for testing and training.
