JOST, a global leader in safety-relevant systems for commercial vehicles with more than 3,500 employees and production/sales sites in over 20 countries, faced rising IT-availability demands as it centralized infrastructure while still requiring local systems for production. Its legacy Backup Exec and tape-based processes were labor-intensive, slow to restore (sometimes days), hard to manage centrally and vulnerable to ransomware, so JOST sought a holistic, globally manageable backup and recovery strategy.

JOST implemented Veeam Availability Suite and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 as a central platform, protecting ~300 virtual machines (≈250 TB), physical production terminals and Office 365 data for ~2,000 users, with offsite replicas and WAN-accelerated backup copies. The result: failed systems can be restored in minutes instead of hours or days, stronger resilience to cyber risks (including ransomware protection), centralized control for compliance and faster deployments and migrations.
