IT Team Achieves 5-Minute RTO with Veeam Backup & Replication

Zaunergroup, a European construction firm that designs and builds manufacturing plants across Austria, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Romania and Slovenia, needed a comprehensive backup strategy as it virtualized its data center. The IT team wanted a virtualization-specific solution that could boot VMs from backups in minutes—capabilities their existing physical-server backup tool couldn’t provide.

They implemented VMware vSphere and Veeam Backup & Replication, using Instant VM Recovery (vPower) to run VMs directly from backups and achieve a five-minute RTO. Veeam’s SureBackup, U-AIR and On‑Demand Sandbox gave verified recoverability, granular item restores and safe testing of patches, while daily backups and planned VM replication across sites delivered efficient, reliable protection of the virtual infrastructure.
