A Veeam Case Study
Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey, a century-old nonprofit that provides employment and training services across the NYC metro, needed to protect its intellectual property and ensure 24x7 availability for critical systems supporting retail, training and donor services. Its legacy backup tool failed frequently (backups failed >30%, recoveries up to 70%), couldn’t scale with rapid data growth, lengthened backup windows and left the organization unable to meet RTO/RPO SLAs.
After trialing and deploying Veeam Backup & Replication across 230 VMs (≈50 TB) on HP/Cisco infrastructure, Goodwill began using storage-snapshot backups, Instant VM Recovery and item-level restores to back up critical VMs every 2–4 hours and replicate to a DR site. The solution produced a 10‑minute RTO and 15‑minute RPO, minimized production impact, provided built‑in encryption for regulatory compliance, and shifted IT from a disaster recovery posture to actionable business continuity.
