YouGov, a global market research and consulting firm that runs a 100% virtualized environment (13 VMware hosts and ~400 VMs), needed to protect critical, always-on data and migrate VMs between data centres with different storage platforms. Existing agent-based backup tools couldn’t scale, caused performance impacts, and left monitoring and reporting gaps; full backups (notably Exchange) took days and VM migrations over the WAN were risky and complex.

YouGov deployed Veeam Backup & Replication and later Veeam Availability Suite to deliver agentless, image-based daily backups, fast incremental Exchange backups (reduced to ~20 minutes), Instant File-Level Recovery, and storage-agnostic replication for seamless Berlin→London migration—even for legacy systems. The result: reliable always-on operations, faster recoveries, simpler licensing and management (no agents), and detailed reporting for troubleshooting, capacity planning and cost visibility.
