Furniture Retailer Shelves Undependable Backup and Slow Recovery with Veeam and ExaGrid

Jordan’s Furniture, a New England retailer with six locations and over 1,000 employees, had virtualized its VMware environment (about 150 VMs) but struggled with an older backup tool that frequently failed, required manual VM assignments, and produced painfully slow recoveries (sometimes up to a day). Those limitations left the company unable to fully benefit from virtualization for critical systems like e-commerce, Exchange, Active Directory, SQL Server and point-of-sale.

Jordan’s deployed Veeam Backup & Replication integrated with its ExaGrid appliances, gaining automated VM backups, Instant VM Recovery and Veeam Explorer for item-level restores. The combined solution delivered reliable, faster backups, restores in minutes (an AD group was recovered in three minutes), source- and zone-level deduplication (about 2:1), and replication to a DR site with 5-minute RPOs—reducing troubleshooting, reclaiming storage and restoring business availability.
