Forensic Science Institute Picks Veeam to Protect Juridical Data

The National Institute of Criminalistics and Criminology (NICC) in Brussels, which supports forensic investigations and case tracking, moved nearly all applications to VMware vSphere and needed a virtualization-specific backup and DR solution. The IT team required fast backups, ease of use, and quick VM restores because their previous tape-based approach and native tools were slow and provided insufficient visibility.

Working with INTO IT, NICC deployed Veeam Backup & Replication to provide instant VM and file recovery, hourly VM replication between two vSphere servers, and advanced monitoring, reporting and capacity planning. The result: backups up to 40× faster than tape, VM and file restores in minutes with no production impact for 150 users, and improved insight into the virtual environment through hundreds of prebuilt alarms.
