Simplot Australia, a leading food manufacturer behind brands like Birds Eye, John West and Leggo’s, runs more than 600 VMs across 40+ locations to support 1,500 employees and 24x7 production during harvest. With factory-floor applications virtualized on VMware vSphere, the IT team had limited visibility into individual VMs and needed to detect and recover from VM issues faster to avoid costly downtime—aiming to cut mean time to resolution from hours to minutes.

Working with Kalibre, Simplot implemented Veeam Smart Plug‑in for VMware integrated into HP Operations Manager and Veeam Backup & Replication for replication and DR. The SPI provided deep VM health metrics, alerts and a unified view of virtual and physical environments, enabling proactive fixes and fast failover (used successfully after a datacenter water leak), which reduced MTTR from hours to minutes while improving monitoring and VM protection.
