Financial Institution Banks on Veeam to Back up and Manage its Virtual Environment

Garanti Bank, Turkey’s second-largest private bank with more than 10 million customers, had virtualized roughly 80% of its main data centers (34 VMware ESX hosts and 750 VMs) to support 910 branches, 3,200 ATMs and 17,000 employees. The IT team needed tools designed for virtual environments to deliver reliable backups, real-time monitoring and automated documentation to protect mission-critical Exchange, ERP, CRM and SQL systems.

The bank deployed Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam ONE, which cut backup windows from eight hours to three, enabled file recoveries in minutes, and reduced backup storage through image-level deduplication; Instant VM Recovery allows VMs to run directly from backups for near-instant restores. Veeam ONE added 24/7 monitoring, alerts, automated reporting and change tracking, improving visibility, speeding root-cause resolution and helping the bank meet its RTO/RPO objectives.
