Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), the state-owned utility responsible for national power generation and transmission, needed reliable, fast data protection as it modernized critical back-office systems (ERP, ECM and others). Their prior backup provider was inflexible, slow and struggled to integrate with multi-vendor infrastructure, creating operational risk and potential downstream impacts on distributors and customers.

EGAT implemented Veeam Backup & Replication—integrated with IBM production snapshots and Lenovo backup storage—to protect roughly 700 TB across 1,000 VMs and enable instant DR failover. Recovery time fell from about one hour to five minutes (12× faster), productivity improved (enabling 70–80% of staff to work remotely with confidence) and operating expenses were reduced by consolidating protection services.
