A Veeam Case Study
EAV (Ente Autonomo Volturno) is a state‑owned transport operator in Campania, Italy, running hundreds of trains, buses and cable cars—about 3,600 trips daily and roughly 67 million passengers a year. After a ransomware attack in February 2022 encrypted servers and workstations and took 15 days to fully recover (almost delaying payroll), the company sought to consolidate its backup tools into a single, scalable solution to ensure rapid recovery and continuous service for passengers.
EAV standardized on Veeam (Veeam Data Platform Premium and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365), deploying immutable, offsite backups, DataLabs verification, and automated recovery across ~1,000 user accounts and dozens of servers in four data centers and ticket locations. The result: near‑zero risk of data loss, faster verified restores (including individual Microsoft 365 items), improved cyber‑resiliency and 24/7 availability that helps keep passengers moving while laying the groundwork for hybrid/multi‑cloud flexibility.
