DATEV extends its cloud sourcing business with Veeam

DATEV eG is a German cooperative and software provider for tax consultants, auditors and lawyers, serving some 40,000 members and hosting business data for millions of organizations. As DATEV expanded its cloud sourcing offering to nearly 6,000 customers, its legacy backup software struggled with the multi-tenant scale, diverse hypervisors and growing footprint of more than 10,000 VMs and ~15 PB of data, putting strict SLAs and business-critical services at risk.

DATEV implemented Veeam Availability Suite in a modular “building block” design (separate Backup & Replication servers with ReFS-optimized repositories and encrypted Hitachi block storage) and consolidated monitoring with Veeam ONE. The deployment delivered instant VM recovery (minutes instead of hours), self-service and tiered restore capabilities for helpdesk and customers, reliable protection of 15 PB of data, and simplified, scalable expansion of the cloud sourcing business.
