Cornell Maintains Business Continuity and Saves $50,000 Each Year with Veeam

Cornell’s SC Johnson College of Business—home to the Statler Hotel learning lab—faced unreliable, fragmented backup systems that threatened data availability and business continuity for faculty, students and hotel operations. IT staff were spending about 20 hours a week troubleshooting backups and lacked confidence in their ability to restore critical research, academic and operational data quickly.

The college consolidated four backup solutions into Veeam Backup & Replication (with Veeam Agents), protecting 120 virtual servers (60 TB) and physical servers to Dell EMC Unity and offloading long-term data to Wasabi S3 via Veeam Cloud Tier. The unified solution eliminated weekly troubleshooting, enabled near-instant recovery, improved business continuity and delivered about $50,000 in annual savings that the IT team is reinvesting in new technology.
