Capfin is a fast‑growing South African financial services company that processes thousands of loan applications monthly through a 750‑person call centre and a proprietary loan‑processing application running on VMware VMs. Rapid data growth—around 21TB of critical data across production and back‑office systems and about 800GB added per month—strained a legacy tape‑based backup process that could take up to 48 hours, putting revenue‑critical services at risk if recovery was slow.

Working with partner First Technology, Capfin implemented Veeam Backup Management Suite to perform daily disk‑based backups of 80 VMs to an onsite SAN and copy archives to tape. Veeam halved the backup window to 24 hours, enables Instant VM Recovery and granular restores in minutes, and provides monitoring, reporting and capacity planning for complete visibility—resulting in faster recovery, reduced downtime risk and better control of backup infrastructure.
