Knauf’s Latvian subsidiary, a 24x7 manufacturing site serving the Baltic region, faced unacceptable IT downtime after virtualising on VMware vSphere because its existing backup tool didn’t integrate well and was slow, and native monitoring lacked deep reporting. The IT team needed high-speed backups with deduplication, fast VM restores, and comprehensive monitoring to meet SLAs and support long‑term capacity planning.

Working with OptiCom, Knauf implemented Veeam Backup Management Suite (Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam ONE), which delivered 30× faster backups, enabled seven times more frequent backups, and reduced backup storage by five times through built‑in deduplication. Instant VM/File-Level Recovery cut VM recovery from hours to minutes, RTOs and SLAs are met with less effort, and 24x7 monitoring plus deep reporting and trend analysis improved performance, provisioning and long‑term virtual infrastructure planning.
