Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust deploys Veeam for data freedom and resilience

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Bedford Hospital and Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, serves about 620,000 people and supports 8,000 staff working across more than 500 TB of sensitive patient data. The Trust needed 24/7 access, stronger cyber-resilience and reduced administrative overhead after merging two hospitals and relying on legacy backup tools that required daily manual checks.

Working with Oxford Network Consultants, the Trust deployed Veeam Data Platform and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, implemented a 3-2-1 backup strategy, and introduced immutable, encrypted backups while migrating 7,500 Microsoft 365 mailboxes from Azure to on-premises. The solution lets teams recover data in minutes, saves at least one hour per day previously spent verifying backups, and lowers the risk of data compromise from cyberattacks.
