A Veeam Case Study
BitCloud, a 100% Australian cloud provider based in Sydney, set out to build a differentiated cloud offering but faced key challenges: a fully virtualized VMware environment, limited bandwidth in its markets, growing VM counts, and the need for scalable, cost‑effective data protection that wouldn’t require frequent vendor changes. The company needed a solution that would work with VMware, minimize bandwidth and restore times, and support a service‑provider licensing model.
BitCloud deployed Veeam Backup & Replication to protect more than 1,000 Windows and Linux VMs and to underpin its IaaS, BaaS/DRaaS and managed Exchange/SharePoint services. Veeam’s replication, WAN acceleration, deduplication and forever‑incremental backups enabled fast restores (e.g., searching 14 Exchange restore points in six hours), efficient backups of large VMs, remote replication to a second datacenter, and flexible licensing — helping BitCloud reduce costs, attract new clients and stand out in a crowded market.
