Arizona Western College maintains $3.5 million in state funding with Veeam Cloud Data Management

Arizona Western College (AWC), a 12-location community college serving about 11,000 students, faced a critical IT challenge: backups were only successful 20% of the time and recoveries could take up to 24 hours, putting student registration at risk. The college also needed off‑site backups to meet the state’s 3-2-1 rule and secure $3.5 million in annual funding—something their legacy system could not support.

AWC adopted Veeam (Agent and Backup & Replication) to convert a failing physical server to Hyper‑V, back up 90 VMs (200 TB) to Dell EMC Data Domain, and replicate copies to Azure/Azure Blob with Cloud Tiering. Veeam SureBackup and Instant VM Recovery enabled automated recoverability testing and reduced recovery from 24 hours to minutes, AWC passed the state audit, retained funding, established a comprehensive BC/DR strategy, and saved about $50,000 over five years.
