A Veeam Case Study
Ajuntament de Vilafranca del Penedès, the municipal government serving about 40,000 citizens in Catalonia, had fully digitalized its services but was hampered by a failing backup solution that created high failure rates and forced IT staff into up to two hours of manual work per day. Facing growing data volumes, increased vulnerability to attacks and the need to meet public-sector security and compliance requirements, the town sought a reliable, AHV- and tape-integrated data protection tool that would reduce risk and free the team to focus on innovation.
The municipality implemented Veeam Backup & Replication with integration help from systems integrator Sercom, completing a low-risk migration to protect its Nutanix cluster (about 45 VMs, ~5 TB). Daily incremental backups are stored on a dedicated server, replicated to NAS, transferred to tape and an isolated immutable copy, enabling 40% faster restores, higher service availability, simplified regulatory compliance and automated processes that let IT concentrate on new citizen services.
