University Hospital Würzburg, a major maximum-care hospital in Germany, needed to modernize its backup and recovery environment as data volumes, mission-critical applications, and cybersecurity risks grew. Using Veeam Data Platform Advanced Edition and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, the hospital also wanted to support a move from VMware to Proxmox while keeping patient systems available and protected.

Veeam implemented immutable backups, high-performance storage, continuous data protection, and granular recovery tools across 1.3 PB of data. The result was backup performance up to 7x faster for 300 TB of data, rapid recovery for 1,340 servers, and a seamless hypervisor migration path, helping reduce the risk of downtime and interference with clinical systems.
