A VectorWorks Case Study
Performance Environment Design Group (PEDG) is a Lancaster- and Los Angeles–based scenic and lighting design firm known for large-scale broadcast and live events. For 2012 they were tasked with topping the prior year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival—featuring 22 major artists and 15,000 sell-out crowds per night—while also delivering the NFL Kickoff at Rockefeller Center, all against tight timelines, lost installation days, incomplete venue drawings and strict weight and access constraints.
PEDG used Vectorworks Designer plus on-site surveys to produce highly detailed 2D and 3D drawings, rigging symbols and build documents, coordinating artists’ needs and contractors to avoid conflicts before load-in. The result: a GRAMMY-level iHeartRadio set built in three days (rehearsal on day four, shows on days five and six) with 200+ motors running the rig, and a seamless, highly accurate NFL Kickoff installation (64 detailed sheets, quarter-inch tolerances) that met client and venue requirements and earned widespread praise.
