A VectorWorks Case Study
Mimesi 62 Associated Architects is a Florence-based multidisciplinary studio founded in 1996 that treats architecture as a poetic, multisensory practice grounded in “mimesis.” Faced with the challenge of requalifying and reconnecting fragmented urban places—from Piazza Varlungo to the PR8 area and the Lab City concert/gallery project—the firm set out to restore civic memory, create strong cultural identity, and make public space usable and meaningful again.
Mimesi 62 responded by reading each site’s “invariant” geometries and social patterns, diverting traffic where needed and composing sequences of linked squares, promenades, and purpose-built “containers” (auditorium, gallery, labs) that use symbolic materials and forms. Using Vectorworks Architect to develop their layered, site-specific proposals, the studio’s work has anchored community life, revived public interactions and won multiple international ideas competitions and awards.
