A VectorWorks Case Study
Quattro Design Architects partnered with Jonathan Reeves Architecture to deliver Kingsway Primary School on the former RAF Kingsway Estate in Gloucester. The brief was to create a village‑format, eco‑friendly primary school for ages 4–11 within a £4.26m budget that would actively stimulate learning through varied colours, textures and geometric forms while meeting Gloucestershire County Council’s high sustainability standards.
Using Vectorworks and a "moderate" BIM workflow (with Cinema 4D for high‑quality renderings), the team produced planning drawings and 3D visuals in just three weeks, enabling rapid, collaborative decision‑making and cost‑effective detailing. The completed school includes climate‑controlled classrooms, solar‑heated water, energy readouts, wind catchers and a car‑free arrival policy, earned a BREEAM "Very Good" rating, and opened in October 2008 to strong praise from staff and growing pupil numbers.
