Inventive Design Yields Extraordinary Results

BOLLES+WILSON is a Münster-based architecture firm (founded in London in 1980) known for blending the ordinary with the extraordinary. Faced with complex, site-sensitive commissions—notably the Raakspoort project in Haarlem that combined a town hall and multiplex in a dense urban fabric, and an RS+Yellow warehouse topped by a shallow rooftop lake—the firm needed long‑term iterative design development, precise technical detailing, and clear client visualization to reconcile program changes, contextual constraints and unusual engineering demands (like keeping water safely on a roof).

The team used a 3D‑driven workflow powered by Vectorworks Architect (with Renderworks and CINEMA 4D integrations), organized file structures, and realistic texture and presentation tools to refine designs and coordinate technical solutions—such as leveled invisible pool edges and segmented basins to control waves. The result: striking, contextually attuned buildings that realized ambitious concepts, improved client buy‑in and design efficiency, and earned industry recognition including the Worldwide Brick Award and the German Façade Award.
