A VectorWorks Case Study

Preview of the Cearnal Andrulaitis Case Study

Firm’s Focus on BIM Workflows Builds a Beautiful Community

Cearnal Andrulaitis Architecture & Interior Design is an 11-person Santa Barbara firm known for community-focused, sustainable civic and housing projects in the city’s historic districts. Faced with strict local review processes, complex multiunit developments, and ambitious sustainability goals, the team needed a more efficient way to coordinate design, documentation, and collaboration across small in‑house teams and external partners.

The firm adopted a Vectorworks BIM workflow—breaking projects into model and sheet files, workgroup referencing, and isolating units for parallel work—which cut tedious 2D tasks, improved accuracy, and sped delivery. The approach enabled successful projects like Bella Riviera and Alma del Pueblo (LEED‑targeted), streamlined permitting and teamwork, supported affordable housing goals, and made training younger architects easier while positioning the firm to explore Open BIM interoperability.
