Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), a public research university in Richmond with more than 30,000 students, faced ongoing concerns about police accountability and student safety: even after VCU Police reduced officer-involved use of force by 84% and increased de-escalation efforts, BIPOC students still sometimes did not feel safe. Vector Solutions, through its LiveSafe app, partnered with VCU to address these community trust and accountability challenges.

Vector Solutions added a "Check Police" button to the LiveSafe app used at VCU, allowing students and bystanders to report officer conduct concerns, receive real-time response and intervention, and give dispatchers 24/7 visibility to assess situations and send backup when needed. The LiveSafe feature increases accountability, helps prevent escalation, and—when combined with VCU Police’s prior reductions in use of force and emphasis on de‑escalation—aims to bolster student confidence and improve safety outcomes on campus.
