Tulsa Fire Department Finds TargetSolutions ‘Hands Above the Competition’ for Firefighter Training

Tulsa Fire Department, a 30-station, 724‑employee metro department that responds to more than 54,000 incidents a year, faced difficulty coordinating classroom-based training across a widely dispersed force. To solve this communication and scheduling challenge they implemented TargetSolutions (a Vector Solutions product) in 2007 to deliver and track training remotely.

Using Vector Solutions’ TargetSolutions online training management system, Tulsa created customizable online coursework, video‑embedded presentations, pre‑training assignments and tests, and a clear performance dashboard to monitor completion. The solution let the department reach all stations rapidly, reduce in-person training time (condensing a typical two‑hour session into about one hour), and centrally track compliance and performance across 724 personnel.
